Principal's Corner
Dear Jefferson Middle School Families and Community Members,
I’m excited to introduce myself as your new Principal. I am truly honored to become part of your community and get to know you and your students.
This summer, I will be spending time getting to know the staff, understanding the needs of the building, and familiarizing myself with the school improvement plan and goals. I’ve had a few opportunities this spring to meet some of the students and I already know the pride they have in their school. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of the students and working with them to become their best selves.
Professionally, I’ve spent the last 22 years at West High School. I was a business and marketing teacher, a grant facilitator/professional development coordinator, and for the past 13 years, I’ve been an assistant principal. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from UW Whitewater and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch. My educational philosophy is centered around developing the whole child and the belief that all students can, and want to, learn. It is my intent to learn about the systems and structures that support student learning at Jefferson and continue to grow and develop the amazing staff and students toward high achievement for all.
One of the most important things I’d like to accomplish over the summer is to meet with as many parents, teachers and community members as possible to fully understand both the strengths and areas of growth at Jefferson. I welcome your input and ideas and will be available to meet either individually or in small groups. Please feel free to reach out to me to schedule a specific time. I look forward to getting to know you and your students.
Kindest Regards,
Melanie Thiel
