Dear Jefferson Families,

In October your child(ren) will be given a chromebook to enhance their academic skills.   In order for students to work on the one-to-one devices, families must “digitally” sign the Digital Device Guidelines.  You will need internet access through your cell phone or computer. Please click on the following link (https://webapp1.madison.k12.wi.us/webapp1/enroll2/) to access Infinite Campus.  You will use your IC enrollment login.  Directions to complete this task are located here in both English and Spanish.  Please complete by September 27, 2017.

Thank you,

Jefferson G3 Team

Hello Jefferson Staff, and Community Members

Madison Memorial Youth Girls Basketball will be holding evaluations/tryouts for placement on our teams for the 2017 youth girls basketball season on Sunday Oct. 1 & Oct. 8.  We welcome any young female athlete grades 3-8 who is looking for an opportunity to learn the game of basketball, build self-confidence, develop friendships with a diverse kids/families, and have a TON fun.  We do not cut! We offer financial assistance to families.

We currently have over 110+ young athletes playing basketball in our youth program, and would like to see that number continue to grow.  The growth that we have experienced is a direct connection to our partnership with our feeder schools, and an investment by teachers, and staff at those schools in our young female athletes, THANK YOU!  Please distribute the attached flyer and the following link to our registration page as you see fit, so that we may continue to offer this great opportunity to our young female athletes and future Spartans.

Hello Jefferson Families and Community!  My name is Katie Rice and I am the new assistant principal at Jefferson MS.  I am very excited to be a part of the Jefferson team as we continue to work together to move forward in helping all students become college, career, and community ready.  For the past nine years I have worked for the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada.  During that time I had the opportunity to not only teach in the classroom, but also to work as an instructional coach focusing on English Language Learning strategies as well as serve as an assistant principal in a school located in downtown Las Vegas.  Throughout my time in education, I have sought opportunities to learn more about the Common Core State Standards, research based reading and math instruction, as well as engagement strategies to help all students learn.  I believe in order to develop life long learners, I must also be one!  I'm looking forward to a great 2017-2018 school year as I get to know each of the students and families and Jefferson!

The Rotary Club of Madison West Towne-Middleton is a service club made up of about 65 professional men and women who work on the west side of Madison and in Middleton.  The Club has for more than forty-five years been actively involved in local community projects, like youth scholarships, bingo at Oakwood, Wisconsin Academic Decathlon, and many more. The group is also involved in efforts around the world, including orphanages in Eastern Europe and Latin American, as well as water projects in South America.

Last year, the Club looked to make a strong, long-term commitment to a local school through the 'Adopt-a-School' program of the Foundation for Madison's Public Schools. They chose Jefferson Middle School. What has that meant so far?

The Club has provided a Chrome Cart with twenty Chromebook computers, funds for Mad City Challenge, 65 filled back packs and school supplies as well as decoration help for the 8 th grade dance, as well as mock job interviews and career talks. We at Jefferson benefit from their real-world experience, and the Rotary Club gains from learning about and connecting with their local community. And the Club is not done yet!

Thank you Rotary Club!
