PTO BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED
Want to become more involved in Jefferson Middle School? The Jefferson PTO Board is seeking new members for next year. It is a great way to get to know staff, share your thoughts, and plan activities to serve the Jefferson school community. The current board has many 8th grade parents, so we are seeking parents of current 6th and 7th grade to join. Here are some options.
President or Co-Presidents
As president you would coordinate and plan the 4 PTO meetings throughout the year. Beyond that you act as a sounding board for all of the smaller committees and events that happen making sure that people are involved and aware. It may sound like a big job, but it really isn't hard at all! It's great to work with people so focused on our kids.
This job is mainly observing and helping the current president(s). The idea is to watch and learn for a year so that you could take over as president in the following year.
The communications job involves letting the greater TJMS community know what is going on at the school through the Sunday Jabber Lite and on the Jefferson PTO Facebook page.
7th Grade Representative
This is a position for a current 6th grade parent. The main purpose is to coordinate any activities for that grade and be helpful to 7th grade staff.
If you are interested in any of these positions please contact Jane Kaldor (email@example.com). We would love to have you join us!
The Rotary Club of Madison West Towne-Middleton is a service club made up of about 65 professional men and women who work on the west side of Madison and in Middleton. The Club has for more than forty-five years been actively involved in local community projects, like youth scholarships, bingo at Oakwood, Wisconsin Academic Decathlon, and many more. The group is also involved in efforts around the world, including orphanages in Eastern Europe and Latin American, as well as water projects in South America.
Last year, the Club looked to make a strong, long-term commitment to a local school through the 'Adopt-a-School' program of the Foundation for Madison's Public Schools. They chose Jefferson Middle School. What has that meant so far?
The Club has provided a Chrome Cart with twenty Chromebook computers, funds for Mad City Challenge, 65 filled back packs and school supplies as well as decoration help for the 8 th grade dance, as well as mock job interviews and career talks. We at Jefferson benefit from their real-world experience, and the Rotary Club gains from learning about and connecting with their local community. And the Club is not done yet!
