Dear Parents and students: During the next school year 2017-2018, Jefferson will be a one - to - one school. We are a G3 School to find out more click here (English) (Spanish) (Hmong)

Hello Everyone,
Building services has informed me we cannot have access to the building this weekend and the work crew's trucks and trailers will be staged where we hold the car wash.  Unfortunate we cannot have the car wash this year.  So...please support cancer research by buying lots of treats this Friday and next Friday.  Thank you everyone for your support.

The 8th grade class of 2017 will soon be moving on!  More details to come for 8th grade families regarding the events on June 8th, but we would love to ask for your help and donations in advance to make this a great event for our 8th graders. This year, the celebration will be FREE to all 8thgraders, so the PTO is asking for some help with donations of supplies.  Please check out sign up genius to donate a few items, or lend a hand with set up on June 7th.  Please note – ALL GRADE PARENTS can help out – it’s a great way to get some ideas on how you will celebrate your students successes when they are 8th graders!

PTO BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED
Want to become more involved in Jefferson Middle School? The Jefferson PTO Board is seeking new members for next year. It is a great way to get to know staff, share your thoughts, and plan activities to serve the Jefferson school community. The current board has many 8th grade parents, so we are seeking parents of current 6th and 7th grade to join. Here are some options.

President or Co-Presidents
As president you would coordinate and plan the 4 PTO meetings throughout the year.  Beyond that you act as a sounding board for all of the smaller committees and events that happen making sure that people are involved and aware.  It may sound like a big job, but it really isn't hard at all!  It's great to work with people so focused on our kids.

Vice President
This job is mainly observing and helping the current president(s). The idea is to watch and learn for a year so that you could take over as president in the following year.

Communications
The communications job involves letting the greater TJMS community know what is going on at the school through the Sunday Jabber Lite and on the Jefferson PTO Facebook page.

7th Grade Representative
This is a position for a current 6th grade parent. The main purpose is to coordinate any activities for that grade and be helpful to 7th grade staff.

If you are interested in any of these positions please contact Jane Kaldor (janekaldor@tds.net). We would love to have you join us!

Summer Camp Opportunity: Academy of Finance (personal finance camp), Youth Power. 7th - 11th Graders

The Rotary Club of Madison West Towne-Middleton is a service club made up of about 65 professional men and women who work on the west side of Madison and in Middleton.  The Club has for more than forty-five years been actively involved in local community projects, like youth scholarships, bingo at Oakwood, Wisconsin Academic Decathlon, and many more. The group is also involved in efforts around the world, including orphanages in Eastern Europe and Latin American, as well as water projects in South America.

Last year, the Club looked to make a strong, long-term commitment to a local school through the 'Adopt-a-School' program of the Foundation for Madison's Public Schools. They chose Jefferson Middle School. What has that meant so far?

The Club has provided a Chrome Cart with twenty Chromebook computers, funds for Mad City Challenge, 65 filled back packs and school supplies as well as decoration help for the 8 th grade dance, as well as mock job interviews and career talks. We at Jefferson benefit from their real-world experience, and the Rotary Club gains from learning about and connecting with their local community. And the Club is not done yet!
Thank you Rotary Club!
